In these early letters Bill W. & Jim B. discuss the importance of documenting the history of AA, they also discuss the groundwork for our conference charter as we know it today. The first General Service Conference met in April, 1951. Note Jim B. Was one of the first ten AA’s in the eastern United States, he wrote the story for the second edition Big Book “The Vicious Cycle”, his story can still be found in the fourth edition Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous in the Pioneers of AA personal stories section.
These letters are complete and unabridged in content, all typographical errors are original, remember they used typewriters back then it wasn’t that easy to backspace.
The letters that follow come from a local AA's Alcoholics Anonymous memorabilia collection. |
